About HICP

The Health Innovation Community Partnership is an authentic, inclusive and dynamic civic engagement process for community stakeholders to shape and support innovative partnerships, policies, development, and programs that address community needs through the lens of health. The Partnership's role is to:

  • Inform development projects on the LAC+USC Medical Center and USC Health Sciences Campus.

  • Advise County development projects and priorities.

  • Identify and shape policy recommendations impacting the surrounding communities.

  • Be a strong and credible advocate for community interests.

  • Secure community benefits for current and future residents (e.g. local hire, affordable housing, health services, etc.).

  • Build a focus-driven collaborative of public, private, and community partners.

  • Build community leadership and capacity.

  • Meet regularly and participate in workgroups and community meetings to provide leadership and guidance, promote shared learning and collaboration.

  • Meaningfully engage community voices and interests.

Backbone Organization

The LAC+USC Medical Center Foundation, Inc. serves as the backbone organization for the Health Innovation Community Partnership and other complementary collaborative interventions working to improve health and wellbeing in Los Angeles. These include The Wellness Center at the Historic General Hospital, the Boyle Heights Accountable Community for Health, and the Boyle Heights-Building Healthy Communities initiative. These efforts are helmed by the Foundation and based out of our offices located on the campus of the LAC+USC Medical Center, the largest safety net hospital in Los Angeles County. The Foundation works hand-in-hand with the Medical Center to support complementary care for patients as well as community engagement and population health services for local residents to ensure the Medical Center is at the heart of a thriving, healthy community.

Membership

The Partnership launched in 2017 with 40 original members invited by Supervisor Hilda Solis to serve as founding members. Partnership meetings are open to the public and new member applications are reviewed quarterly by the Membership Committee.
